MISSION UPDATE

Aqua Viva Update, excerpts from their December Newsletter:
During the past year we were able to provide medical treatment to hundreds of individuals from several jungle villages in Talamanca as well as in the Bribri area. We hung cable cars at two river crossings allowing for safer passage, preliminary to constructing bridges at those sites. During the year we made several investigative trips into Panama to visit villages of the Guaymi tribe. Additionally, we continue to make plans for the implementation of aviation in the mission effort in Talamanca and Panama. Paramount to and really in conjunction with everything else, we have endeavored to spread the message of Christ in both word and deed.

Bottom line, the biggest hindrance we have in taking the Gospel to those who live outside the area of our normal sphere of movement is a lack of funding. Sufficient monetary resources make it possible to procure the tools necessary to over-come pretty much every other obstacle we face.   First of all, our monthly fixed cost which included utilities, insurance and salaries for our Costa Rican workers totals approximately $3,486. In addition, there are the variable expenses of food, fuel, medical, travel and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and property.

Next are the expenses for our various outreaches which target not only individuals but also entire communities. Medical clinics are our long-standing form of communal outreach. With each clinic we incur a cost of about $2500 which includes medicines, transportation and food for the duration of the clinic. A new outreach we are instigating is the installation of solar lighting in village school buildings. The cost for lights in a school will run about $3500, with the cost including food, transportation to the village and the complete electrical system.

If you have been reading our newsletters, you know that we received a donation of an airplane last January which we hope to soon put to work in an effective manner in Talamanca. The airplane is going to open up doors of ministry that we have never before seriously contemplated and it will make possible some of the things we have dreamed of doing.

We have two large construction projects in progress, a housing facility in Bribri and our aircraft   I would ask you, if you feel a tinge of care for the lost of the Bribri, Cabecar, Guaymi or Miskito tribes, please be diligent in prayer with us. Pray that God would make provision of all our needs.

Blessings and Peace and Love from God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
